2026 IRS Mileage Log (Excel) — Split Rates After July 1
The IRS raised the optional business standard mileage rate in the middle of 2026. A log that uses one rate for the whole year will be wrong after June 30. This file picks the rate from the trip date and the purpose.
2026 optional standard mileage rates
| Purpose | Jan 1 – Jun 30 | Jul 1 – Dec 31 |
|---|---|---|
| Business | 72.5 cents/mile | 76 cents/mile |
| Medical / qualifying military moving | 20.5 cents/mile | 23.5 cents/mile |
| Charitable | 14 cents/mile all year (statutory) | |
Figures are the IRS optional standard mileage rates announced in IRS Notice 2026-10 and Announcement 2026-11. The charitable rate is set by statute, not those notices. This page and the spreadsheet are record-keeping tools, not tax advice. Confirm current rates on IRS.gov before you file.
